  • A true church . They are bible centered. They not only preach the gospel they teach the Bible. They have been a true blessing to me and my family equipping us through God's word to go and tell as many as we can about the true saving power of Jesus Christ. Praise God for this body of believers. May God bless CCMI for many years to come.

Our first experience with a Calvary Chapel congregation was with the Merritt Island congregation two years ago. We visited 2-3 times before deciding that it wasn't for us.

The reviewer who says that kids are not welcome in the sanctuary, isn't joking.

We were at the Merritt Island congregation with our infant daughter from out-of-state and were not permitted in the sanctuary, because I did not know the children's ministry staff well enough to entrust them with my daughter. Also, when we visited, they had signs in the ladies' room, stating that we could not return to the sanctuary until the end of the service, because we had gotten up to use the restroom.

This church was big into teaching when we were there, but it was not clear to me if everyone with the gift of teaching were permitted to use their gift, and I was concerned that perhaps folks with different gifts might not have good access to be able to use their gifts in the congregation. I was also left with the sense that they expected you to fall in-line with their way of doing things, and might not be open to folks questioning things.

As for the policies on children and restroom use (and for that matter, lateness, I'm pretty sure -- you'd be restricted to the family area), this is their way of enforcing order in the church. I personally view it as having gone overboard into control, but that's just my opinion. I can tell you that no one handed us a brochure or informed us of the bathroom policy, although we were restricted to the family area behind the sanctuary. Similar situation with not being permitted in the sanctuary of Calvary Chapel of Melbourne, FL, on account of our infant daughter, from what I recall.

Anyway, I personally prefer worshipping in churches where children and whole families are welcome to worship together with the adults. To me, that is more welcoming, loving, and ultimately more closely resembles the biblical principle of ekklesia. From what I can tell from the Scriptures, permitting everyone to worship together was also what Jesus Christ did.

  • Very loving congregation with a passion for teaching the Scriptures and a deep love for the people.

  • Warm & welcoming of everyone. One pastor takes special care to accommodate new folks. Special accommodation in glass area for my daughter with her baby. Kids classes teach at their level.

  • I love this church! I grew up in it and it has been awesome seeing how much it has grown and changed. I also got saved here! I am so incredibly grateful for CCMI because they speak the Truth without compromise. Great people. Great worship. Great pastors. I also thoroughly enjoy the many opportunities to serve here, such as within the Children's Ministry as a teen helper. :)
